Family Nite...

Many families are constantly on the go.
Between sports practices, music recitals, scouts, church and school, it's hard to fit in time just to enjoy each other's company.
Letting aside one night a week to spend together doing something as a family is important to strengthen your family and to share your faith.

Christian parents can incorporate lessons about life, God and faith into their family time through fun games, movies and more.
Board Games

Plan a family night around playing board games.
Use the activity to teach your kids about fairness, being a good sport and treating others as you want them to treat you.
Games give you the opportunity to teach your kids why cheating is a form of lying and how to be gracious in defeat.
Make your point by setting the game up so that it heavily favors one person to teach your kids about fairness.
You can also use board games to increase your child's knowledge of the Bible.
Many popular games, such as Outburst and Pictionary, come in Bible versions.
You can find these at a Christian bookstore.
Movies
Plan to watch a movie together.
Choose a movie that addresses an issue with which your child is dealing.
Watch the movie together, then talk about it afterward.
Discuss the choices the people in the movie made and how they might be the same or different from the choices you would make based on your faith.
Movies are a great way to introduce topics your kids might otherwise be hesitant to talk about, like dating or bullying.
Sports
Spend an evening playing the sport of your choice as a family. Use the time as an opportunity to talk about teamwork and keeping your body healthy. Talk to your kids about 1 Corinthians 6:19, which says your body is a temple for God, to reinforce that exercise is important. Remind your kids that Ecclesiastes 4:9 says that two are better than one to emphasize the importance of teamwork.
Plan a Lesson
Plan a more formal lesson that includes games and object lessons. Make up your own using scripture from the Bible, or follow a prepared lesson plan from one of the many books available. Browse through Heritage Builder's "Family Night" books or Kurt Bickel's "Fantastic Family Fun Nights" for some ideas for activities and lessons.
